1. Download the Installer
Choose the correct installer for your operating system from the downloads section above. The file is a standard installer package (.msi for Windows, .pkg for macOS).
2. Run the Installer
Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen prompts. The installer will guide you through each step.
3. Create Your Account
When the app launches for the first time, you will be prompted to create an account with your email, name, and a password. No credit card is required to start your trial.
4. Name Your Device
Give your computer a recognizable name. This helps SpiderOakONE keep track of which files belong to which machine if you add more computers later.
5. Select Files for Backup
Choose folders or file categories (Documents, Desktop, Pictures, etc.) to back up. Click Save, and your first backup begins automatically.
Important: Remember Your Password. SpiderOakONE uses No Knowledge encryption. This means your data is encrypted before it ever leaves your computer, and SpiderOak cannot see or reset your password. If you lose it, your data cannot be recovered. Write it down and store it somewhere safe, and be sure to set a password hint during account creation.
